LET US KNOW YOUR VIEWS ON THE METZELER RANGE OF TYRES

Roadtec Z6 (Aug 04)

Has a real rival for the BT020 finally arrived?
A Sportec with toruing abilities ?

Since this tyre's release all responses have been positive. It currently offers very good value for money against the BT 020 with definite performance enhancements according to all our customers.

SPORTEC (updated Aug 04)

Wear actually turned out to be rather poor for these performance tyres. However, they are a very competent tyre in all conditions, but do not expect much beyond 3000 miles on high powered machines.

The initial response from the small number of people riding (including Mark my manager) on these is very positive indeed.
Grip from cold is the main comment so far with an almost unbelievably short warm up time. Flickability if there is such a word has been quoted, coupled with the confidence to reach the more extreme lean angles. Additionally, front end grip has also been specifically mentioned.
This is all well and good, but do they wear well? So far with most people only having done 1000 to 1500 miles there are no discernable flattening or uneven tread wear examples.

Me 33 and Me99/55

Still being sold and asked for by customers. They cost the most and last the longest. However, the grip may not be as good as the high price. They're also well known for being good in the wet.

Specific fitments include many of the BMW range.

ME 330 & 550

These fitments have just been released by Metzeler to combat the domination of Bridgestones BT45. The tread pattern is simple, but very deep (probably deeper than the BT45's). They've gone down well with middle weight bikes including the GS500, ER5, CB500 and Bandit. At the moment they're available in an H-rating only.

The big plus is that they're cheaper!
