LET US KNOW YOUR VIEWS ON THE PIRELLI RANGE OF TYRES

'Diablo'
These are without a doubt, 'tyre of the year'.

Rider feedback is as we expected, all the twins are having a great time. Ducati's, TL's, SP1's and SV650's are all reporting back another jump on in tyre performance compared to anything they've used so far.

We've fitted to R1's, GSXR's etc.. and all is very good indeed.

Well, the press are very impressed with the new tyre. Reading the theory behind the construction and tread pattern is very convincing. Pirelli do seem to be (as are most manufacturers) addressing the market place needs. This tyre is 'billed' as being able to deal exceptionally well with all weather and riding conditions. We'll keep you informed of customer feedback.

This is the new replacement of the Dragon Evo and Evo Corsa (not the Supercorsa). Pirelli are following on from the new Metzeler M1 ideas (i.e. faster turning, wet weather ability etc...) with a new tread pattern included. It will be interesting to see if Ducati stay with this tyre as original equipment on the new bikes.
They are now available on the main sizes
, but not in the corsa option until late March.

The Supercorsa (Rennsport- just in case you didn't know, Pirelli bought Metzeler over 10 years ago and although both manufacturers produce independant tyre ranges the compounds and general materials cross between the brands. Infact, the Supercorsa and Rennsport use the same internal carcass and compounds with the difference only being the outward tread pattern!)

Both Rennsport and Supercorsa are continuing to be the best sellers for the racer, track day and fast road rider. The racer preferred combination is SC1 (super soft) front and SC2 (soft) rear (we would not recommend this for the road, as these compounds will struggle to reach running temperature with road use and the carcasses are not up to the rigors of the general road surfaces).
Our other main comment is that the tyres when riden consistently fast (i.e. the track day) will demonstrate any suspension issues in the wear rate and general condition of the tyre. For example, if the suspension is not working idealy, a line 10mm wide of shredded rubber will appear around the entire circumference. This could be a number of things including rebound adjustment or even chain tension.

Despite the condition of the tyre we're still yet to hear of any loss of grip problems from both the race paddock and the road riders.

Feedback from track day/fast riders.
The road version of both fitments have proven more than adequate for the novice up to the experienced track day follower. We've had only positive results on all bikes that have taken the fitments available. Basically, you're getting race technology at everyday tyre prices.

Racer feedback.
We're finding a combination of compounds is probably the most common. For example, a particular R1 who is doing a large volume of testing in preparation for next season has found the most cost effective combination to be an SC2 (soft) front and SC3 (medium) rear. The front is lasting 3 to 4 full days of track riding and the rear definately 3 full days.

Pirelli have released their rival to Dunlops decreasing hold over the race / track day tyre marketplace. This tyre has already been extensively tested at the TT and British Supersport series last season. It's available in a road and full race version. We've now had customers come back to us with beeming smiles and positive comments all round. Superb and unphasing grip with the stability to match. It seems the new bench mark is here. It doesn't look like it's going to be to cool in the wet though (no tread pattern near the edge!).

We've now had a 748 and R1 relay back the performance of the road Supercorsa on track days. Both raved about the feeling of stability, but most specifically the grip was unfaltering. (click here to see the pictures)

The MT65

The MT65 has become the only tyre worth fitting to the step-through market. The tread is thick, grip in the wet is good, the tyres have a good mileage and when fitted with a quality brand tube the combination is real value for money. The C90 never handled so well.
